NZEI Te Riu Roa and the Ministry of Education have met to resolve differences of interpretation of Clause 11 of the Terms of Settlement for the Primary Teachers’ Collective Agreement (collective agreement), which expires on 8 June 2018. They have agreed to the following application of the Clause.
The cost of practising certificate fees will be met by the Secretary for Education where:
- An application for a practising certificate is made before the expiry of the Agreement on 8 June, and, in the case of renewals, the practising certificate expires on or before 8 August 2018, or;
- An application for a practising certificate was made to the Education Council by the close of business on Friday 1 June, subject to the normal Council requirement that applications will not be processed more than 6 months in advance of the expiry of the current certificate.
For clarity, teachers who have not applied for a practising certificate on or before 8 June will be responsible for paying their own fees.
Teachers who fit either of the categories above who have already paid for the renewal of their practising certificate can apply to have the fees paid reimbursed.
If you have any questions about entitlements under the collective agreement please phone 0800 693 443 (NZEI HELP).
