Vacancy: Communications Manager

The Education Council is the professional body for all teachers. We are independent, and act in the interests of teachers to enable and support leadership to teachers and direction for the education profession, including teacher education, continued professional and leadership development. We establish and maintain criteria for teacher registration, standards for ongoing practice and criteria for the issue of practising certificates of different kinds. Alongside this we monitor and maintain the requirements to manage conduct, competence and impairment, and establish and maintain a code of professional responsibility for teachers.

We’re looking for an experienced all-rounder to lead our communications function. This is a pivotal role within the organisation.

·         Are you a seasoned communications professional?

·         Are you a strategic thinker, capable of rolling your sleeves up?

·         Are you excited by challenge, have solid political nous, and experience with the media?

We are looking for someone with a minimum of ten years’ experience in communications. Ideally this person will have a combination of public and private sector experience, and worked in the education sector or in a professional body.

As this is a relatively new organisation this person will need experience in stakeholder engagement and working collaboratively inside and outside the organisation.
